To my complete surprise, last week BBC Radio Scotland got in touch and asked if I would like to speak on the morning show. The subject was 'turmeric face masks', with the use of the spice being debated following Anita Rani from Countryfille swearing by it for youthful and glowing skin.

I've used turmeric in many recipes over recent years. I regularly use it in the winter to keep up my immune system, such as this carrot ginger and turmeric soup, but I've never considered applying it to my skin.

The radio station was keen for me to try out the face mask which consists of one teaspoon of yoghurt, one teaspoon of turmeric and one teaspoon of honey, and then discuss the results live on air the following morning.

Feeling slightly nervous that I may turn into a real life emoji character, I sent my other half to the shop to pick up a fresh jar of turmeric and mixed together the ingredients before smoothing the mask across my face. My initial reaction was that it felt lovely and cool, which I'm presuming is from the yoghurt.

After 20 minutes of leaving the mask to set I attempted to remove it. There were several face wipes and cotton pads used to get rid of the bright turmeric colour but it did completely vanish, thankfully!

I'm not yet 100% convinced about the results but whereI had blemishes I did feel a slight difference. My skin did have a little glow but perhaps that was the adrenaline of speaking live on air!
